Computer: A machine which in a fraction of a second can produce enough errors to keep eight men occupied for the whole of their lifetime, more seriously, a machine that has three components :-

INPUT   >>>>> PROCESS >>>>> OUTPUT

where the input and output may be digatal or analogue and the process would involve storage control and arithmetic operations, differing from a calculator in that it automatically carries out the three operarions under the control of a program.

Program: This is a set of instuctions which the computer carries out. In whatever language the program is written the machine follows the instructions one at a time and in order.
